Leslie Knope is from Pawnee, Indiana. She graduated as summa cum laude from Indiana University, where she studied Public and Environmental Affairs. Ms. Knope held the position of Deputy Director for the Pawnee CIty Department of Parks and Recreation, as well as a seat on the City Council. She is currently Regional Director of the National Parks Service Midwest Region located in Pawnee.
